Papé Uses TIC Tools and Solutions for NonStop Applications

Shaun Swift is the Director of Information Systems for The Papé Group. Papé maintains its large volumes of capital equipment and parts information on HP NonStop mainframe systems. When Papé decided they wanted to integrate their servers with a high volume Web-based data input solution, Shaun turned to Transaction Innovation Corporation (TIC) for their experience and expertise with NonStop systems.

"Seamless integration between applications seems to be a problem across the information technology industry," explained Swift. "So, we had developed some of our own custom applications in the past to solve our internal IT issues. Now, working with TIC and their off-the-shelf tools, along with some custom development for our unique needs, has not only improved our information integrity and workflow dramatically, but has also enabled us to more quickly respond to our customers. We make a great team."

Through the integration of TIC's tools and development with Papé's systems, the company has been able to eliminate a lot of the paper flow throughout the company's divisions. Now, inventory and service reports are displayed and updated electronically via TIC's TeleWeb offering, thus providing immediate access, and the peace of mind that they are accurate - as lag time between the actual inventory and reporting doesn't exist since no hard copy data needs to be entered.

Providing OEM parts to their customers is a large part of Papé's business, so to create an automated manufacturers inventory inquiry system, they once again turned to TIC for help. TIC implemented a solution consisting of their TelePath product, a secure file and message exchange medium, combined with custom consulting integration. Now, Papé employees can securely and efficiently assist customers with manufacturers parts requests through this automated inquiry system, which looks at not only Papé's internal parts inventory, but also queries the manufacturers' inventory via secure Internet lookup. Already, the Papé staff is using the new system between 600-700 times daily to answer customer inquiries and fulfill product orders.

"It's been great working with TIC in general, and Phil Ly, their CEO, in particular as he makes a great sounding board for our IT improvement ideas," stated Swift. "TIC works very hard to provide the tools and custom development to solve their clients unique problems. Papé continually utilizes their tools and consulting in about a 50/50 ratio to address our IT issues."

Papé also used two of TIC's software tools to migrate their human resources (HR) department to a paperless system. The development team at Pape' wrote a custom application incorporating both TeleWeb and TeleMail to process change of status forms for Papé's employees. Now, HR fills out Web forms via the TeleWeb interface, and transmits them via TeleMail, a powerful Email-based report and document distribution system.
